On Wednesday, 16 January 2013, in the morning at 5:27, in Kazlų Rūdos municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 42.25), a DAF FT XF95 registered in Poland ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the DAF (a citizen of Poland) (10 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
