On Friday, 18 January 2013, in the afternoon at 11:48, in Kaunas, on Savanorių pr., at the junction with K.Petrausko street, a Renault Megane Scenic hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 49-year-old driver of the Renault (16 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties and violated lighting-device usage rules. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
