On Thursday, 7 February 2013, in the evening at 19:15, in Prienų district municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 33), a Lexus GS 300 registered in Latvia ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 39-year-old driver of the Lexus (a citizen of Latvia) (14 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was snowing, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
