On Thursday, 7 February 2013, in the afternoon at 11:50, in Kauno city municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 101.90), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Scania R 124, a Tauras 2001, an Opel Astra Sports Tourer, a Mercedes-Benz C220 and a Mono-Transserviss FB-1224. Two people were injured — a 23-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient) and the 51-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 46-year-old driver of the Scania (a citizen of Latvia) (25 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
