On Friday, 8 March 2013, in the afternoon at 16:10, in Birštono municipality, on the Vilnius–Prienai–Marijampolė main road (kilometre 82), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved an Audi 100 Avant and a Ford Focus. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 32-year-old driver of the Audi, who failed to keep a safe distance and failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
