On Friday, 8 March 2013, in the morning at around 9:00, in Kaunas, on Baltų pr. near No. 55, a Mazda 6 hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 15-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 18-year-old driver of the Mazda (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
