On Wednesday, 13 March 2013, in the afternoon at around 11:00, in Kaunas, on Baltų pr. near No. 5, a Renault Kangoo hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 60-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 37-year-old driver of the Renault (15 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
