On Wednesday, 13 March 2013, in the afternoon at 12:30, in Kaunas, on Panerių street near No. 19, a Renault Espace hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. Two people were injured — a 10-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient) and a 10-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 54-year-old driver of the Renault (37 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
