On Thursday, 14 March 2013, in the evening at 21:40, in Kaunas, on Taikos pr., an Audi A8 hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 13-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the Audi (19 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
