On Tuesday, 19 March 2013, in the afternoon at 11:33, in Alytus, on Santaikos street, at the junction with Pulko street, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Ford Fiesta, a Mercedes-Benz Actros 1844 registered in Poland and a Schmitz Cargobull S.CS24-13.62 registered in Poland. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the Ford, who committed other traffic rule violations. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
