On Wednesday, 27 March 2013, in the evening at 20:10, in Kauno district municipality, on the Vilijampolė–Žeimiai–Šėta national road (kilometre 5.90), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Peugeot 307 and an Audi A2. Four people were injured — the 29-year-old driver of the Audi (severely injured, hospitalized), a 35-year-old passenger of the Audi (severely injured, hospitalized), a 8-year-old passenger of the Audi (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt) and a 6-year-old passenger of the Audi (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt). The accident was caused by an unidentified person, who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
