On Friday, 29 March 2013, in the afternoon at 13:55, in Palanga, on Smilčių street, at the junction with Žvejų street, a BMW 318 hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 42-year-old driver of the BMW, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.60‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
