On Saturday, 30 March 2013, in the afternoon at around 13:00, in Panevėžys, on Smėlynės street, at the junction with Marijonų street, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Renault Megane, a Volkswagen Transporter, a Volkswagen Caddy and a Volkswagen Transporter. One person was injured — a 39-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen Transporter (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 52-year-old driver of the Renault (34 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
