On Tuesday, 9 April 2013, in the evening at 17:10, in Kaunas, on J. Basanavičiaus al., at the junction with J. Žemgulio street, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Toyota Corolla, a Volkswagen Polo, a Volkswagen Golf, a Volkswagen Passat and a BMW X3. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 73-year-old driver of the Toyota (35 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
