On Saturday, 27 April 2013, at night at 23:26, in Šilutės district municipality, on the Kaunas–Jurbarkas–Šilutė–Klaipėda national road (kilometre 163.18), a BMW 320 rolled over. Three people were injured — the 22-year-old driver of the BMW (hospitalized, was not wearing a seatbelt), a 15-year-old passenger of the BMW (hospitalized, was not wearing a seatbelt) and a 15-year-old passenger of the BMW (hospitalized, was not wearing a seatbelt). The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the BMW (4 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.88‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
