On Thursday, 2 May 2013, in the afternoon at 13:10, in Vilnius, on Loretos Asanavičiūtės street, at the junction with Virginijaus Druskio street, a Volkswagen Passat hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 11-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 60-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (25 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He was drunk (1.93‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
