On Monday, 6 May 2013, at night at 0:10, in Šalčininkų district municipality, Abolų village, on the Šalčininkai–Dieveniškės–Krakūnai national road (kilometre 1.80), a Volkswagen Passat ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (less than a year of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.74‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
