On Thursday, 16 May 2013, in the evening at around 22:00, in Biržų district municipality, on the Parovėja–Medeikiai–Nemunėlio Radviliškis regional road (kilometre 8.85), a Volkswagen Vento ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 44-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (10 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.64‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
