On Friday, 3 May 2013, in the evening at around 21:00, in Kupiškio district municipality, on the Kupiškis–Virbališkiai–Pandėlys regional road (kilometre 12.45), an Audi 100 ran off the road. Two people were injured — the 29-year-old driver of the Audi (hospitalized) and a 24-year-old passenger of the Audi (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the Audi (9 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.76‰ blood alcohol). A 24-year-old passenger of the Audi was drunk (3.14‰). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
