On Wednesday, 26 June 2013, in the morning at 9:20, in Kaunas, on Birštono street, at the junction with Vilniaus street, a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 311 CDI hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by a 85-year-old pedestrian, who was crossing the carriageway where prohibited and was crossing the carriageway in a built-up area outside a crossing where there is a median strip. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
