Drunk, unlicensed Volkswagen driver runs off the road in Mažeikonių village
On Sunday, 30 June 2013, in the evening at 18:46, in Pakruojo district municipality, Mažeikonių village, on the Kiti keliai local road (kilometre 1.50), a Volkswagen Passat ran off the road. One person was injured — a 18-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt). The accident was caused by the 17-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.51‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was contaminated. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
