On Thursday, 11 July 2013, in the evening at 20:26, in Klaipėdos district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 271.38), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Saab 9-5 and a Renault Megane. Two people were injured — a 5-year-old passenger of the Renault (treated as an outpatient) and the 43-year-old driver of the Renault (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Saab, who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.48‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
