On Thursday, 18 July 2013, at night at around 23:00, in Kaunas, on Sodų street, at the junction with Kranto 2-oji street, a collision while turning right occurred. The collision involved a Mitsubishi Colt and a Mercedes-Benz E280 CDI. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 38-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He was drunk (4.75‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
