On Thursday, 29 August 2013, in the evening at around 22:00, in Kelmės district municipality, on Vytauto Didžiojo street near No. 72, a Mazda 323 hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Mazda (1 year of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. A 39-year-old pedestrian was drunk (1.34‰). At the time of the accident it was dark, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
