On Sunday, 1 September 2013, in the evening at around 18:00, in Kauno district municipality, Akademijos town, on the Kaunas–Zapyškis–Šakiai national road (kilometre 6.30), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Mazda 626 and a Volkswagen Multivan. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 65-year-old driver of the Mazda (25 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober.
