On Saturday, 14 September 2013, in the afternoon at 13:20, in Širvintų district municipality, on the Vilnius–Panevėžys (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 50), a Renault Megane registered in Latvia rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the driver of the Renault (a citizen of Latvia) (28 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
