The accident was caused by the 26-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.61‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. A 52-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen was drunk. A 16-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen was drunk. A 25-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen was drunk (2.15‰). A 23-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen was drunk. A 17-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen was drunk. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
