On Sunday, 13 October 2013, in the evening at around 20:00, in Kauno district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 129), a Skoda Octavia hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 43-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). Two people were injured — a 21-year-old passenger of the Skoda (treated as an outpatient) and a 0-year-old passenger of the Skoda (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt). The accident was caused by a 43-year-old pedestrian, who was crossing the carriageway where prohibited and was walking on a motorway. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
