On Wednesday, 16 October 2013, in the evening at around 19:00, in Pasvalio district municipality, Pumpėnų town, on the Panevėžys–Pasvalys–Ryga main road (kilometre 24.12), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Golf and a Honda CR-V registered in Russia. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to keep a safe distance. He had no driving licence. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
