Unlicensed Volkswagen driver flees after hitting a child at a crossing on Pramonės street, Šiauliai

On Tuesday, 19 November 2013, in the evening at 17:23, in Šiauliai, on Pramonės street near No. 15, a Volkswagen Sharan hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 10-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 51-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. A 46-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen was drunk (1.59‰). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
