On Saturday, 23 November 2013, in the evening at 19:58, in Širvintų district municipality, on the Musninkai–Čiobiškis–Gelvonai–Vytinė regional road (kilometre 13.58), a Volkswagen Touran ran off the road. Two people died — the 32-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (was not wearing a seatbelt) and a 41-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen. The accident was caused by the 32-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (14 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, there was fog, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
