On Sunday, 24 November 2013, in the evening at around 17:00, in Šiauliai, on Tilžės street, at the junction with Gegužių street, an Opel Astra hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 50-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 27-year-old driver of the Opel (8 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
