On Saturday, 7 December 2013, in the afternoon at 15:05, in Prienų district municipality, on the Kaunas–Prienai–Alytus national road (kilometre 44.50), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a MTZ and a Mazda 626. Two people were injured — a 19-year-old passenger of the Mazda (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt) and a 19-year-old passenger of the Mazda (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 55-year-old driver of the MTZ (17 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was overcast, it was snowing, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
