On Thursday, 26 December 2013, in the evening at around 22:00, in Joniškio district municipality, on the Dargiai–Jankūnai–Martyniškiai regional road (kilometre 2.50), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved an Audi 80 and a Peugeot 406. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Audi, who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He was drunk (2.55‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
