On Sunday, 29 December 2013, in the evening at 18:40, in Šilalės district municipality, on Dariaus ir Girėno street near No. 25A, at the junction with Kvėdarnos-Kovo11-oios street, an Opel Astra hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 9-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 60-year-old driver of the Opel (25 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
