On Wednesday, 8 January 2014, in the afternoon at 16:40, in Šiauliai, on K. Korsako street near No. 59, a Volkswagen Golf ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 33-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (12 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.51‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
