On Tuesday, 11 February 2014, in the evening at around 18:00, in Šilalės district municipality, Vytogalos village, on the Skaudvilė–Upyna–Balsiai regional road (kilometre 14.02), an Audi 80 ran off the road. One person was injured — a 39-year-old passenger of the Audi (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 18-year-old driver of the Audi (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. She fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
