On Wednesday, 16 April 2014, in the evening at 20:50, in Lazdijų district municipality, Šventežerio village, on the Alytus–Seirijai–Lazdijai national road (kilometre 33.80), a Volvo XC60 registered in Poland hit an animal. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Volvo (a citizen of Poland) (22 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
