On Friday, 18 April 2014, in the afternoon at around 13:00, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Trakai–Rūdiškės–Pivašiūnai–Alytus national road (kilometre 69.58), a falling cargo occurred. The accident involved a BMW 525 and an Iveco 260E27. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 49-year-old driver of the Iveco (37 years of driving experience), who violated cargo-transport rules. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
