On Sunday, 4 May 2014, in the evening at around 19:00, in Druskininkų municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 134.20), a traffic accident occurred. The accident involved a Renault Magnum 440.19T registered in Poland. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 65-year-old driver of the Renault (a citizen of Poland) (44 years of driving experience), who exceeded the speed set by traffic rules or road signs, committed other traffic rule violations and failed to keep a safe distance. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 20 km/h.
