On Thursday, 15 May 2014, in the evening at 18:19, in Elektrėnų municipality, Naujųjų Kietaviškių village, on Bažnyčios street, a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a Scania R 94 GB registered in Latvia and an Opel Astra. Two people were injured — a 18-year-old passenger of the Opel (hospitalized) and the 42-year-old driver of the Opel (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 54-year-old driver of the Scania (a citizen of Latvia) (36 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
