On Saturday, 24 May 2014, in the evening at around 19:00, in Kelmės district municipality, on the Ryga–Šiauliai–Tauragė–Kaliningradas main road (kilometre 99.94), a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a Citroen C5 registered in Spain, a Volkswagen Passat and a Citroen Xantia. One person was injured — a 16-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 55-year-old driver of the Citroen C5 (21 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
