On Friday, 20 June 2014, in the evening at 19:05, in Prienų district municipality, on the Kaunas–Prienai–Alytus national road (kilometre 41.10), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Ford Transit FT 190 and a Neoplan N 316. Two people were injured — a 21-year-old passenger of the Neoplan (treated as an outpatient) and a 48-year-old passenger of the Neoplan (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 32-year-old driver of the Ford (6 years of driving experience), who violated cargo-transport rules. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
