On Friday, 27 June 2014, in the afternoon at 13:27, in Varėnos district municipality, on Vytauto street near No. 35, a Volvo S60 hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. The accident was caused by a 79-year-old pedestrian, who committed sudden emergence from behind a vehicle, tree, etc. and was crossing the carriageway in a built-up area outside a crossing where there is a median strip.
