On Friday, 8 August 2014, in the afternoon at 16:48, in Rietavo municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 252.10), a Renault Laguna ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 52-year-old driver of the Renault (15 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed and fell asleep at the wheel. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
