On Tuesday, 19 August 2014, in the morning at 5:24, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Alytus–Simnas–Kalvarija national road (kilometre 29.75), an Opel Astra ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 55-year-old driver of the Opel, who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
