On Thursday, 28 August 2014, in the afternoon at 14:15, in Kretingos district municipality, on the Gargždai–Kretinga national road (kilometre 14.80), a hitting an obstacle on the carriageway occurred. The accident involved a Renault Magnum 420 and a Skoda Octavia. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 60-year-old driver of the Renault (10 years of driving experience), who violated cargo-transport rules. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
