On Saturday, 30 August 2014, at night at around 3:00, in Širvintų district municipality, Jauniūnų village, on the Vilnius–Panevėžys (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 30), a Skoda Superb registered in Ukraine hit an animal. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 37-year-old driver of the Skoda (a citizen of Ukraine) (8 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, there was fog, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
