On Monday, 22 September 2014, in the evening at 19:40, in Varėnos district municipality, on the Babriškės–Varėna–Eišiškės national road (kilometre 11.45), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Passat and an Audi 80. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 34-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who committed other traffic rule violations and violated overtaking rules. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
