On Monday, 6 October 2014, in the afternoon at around 16:00, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Alytus–Simnas–Kalvarija national road (kilometre 31), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a DAF XF 95.430 registered in Poland, a Knapen K100, a DAF FT XF105 and a MKV registered in Poland. One person was injured — the 30-year-old driver of the DAF FT XF105 (severely injured, hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the DAF XF 95.430 (a citizen of Poland) (2 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed and entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
